HCV – Section 8

Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List is currently CLOSED.  At this time it is not known when the waiting list will open, however; when a date is established it will be advertised in the public notice section of the News Journal and notices sent to Social Service agencies. The Housing Choice Voucher Program (formerly known as Section 8) is a federally funded program created to assist very low-income families, the elderly, and the disabled to afford decent, safe, and sanitary housing in the private market.  The program is designed so that HCV participants can select housing in any neighborhood of their choice and use their voucher/subsidy to assist with the rent payment.

Please note:  HCV housing is not owned by the WHA. Participants sign a lease with the property owner and WHA signs a Housing Assistance Payments contract with the property owner to make payments on behalf of the participant.
